  • challenge: To highlight some of the positive points of the advertising product for the English-speaking sponsors of a Japanese-language publication.
  • objective: As space within the guidebook came at virtually no additional cost we felt we could best reach the predominantly English-speaking audience of potential advertisers by inserting a series of whimsical ads within the larger Japanese-language content. This English-speaking content would stand out all the more when sponsors came to assess the guidebook as an advertising vehicle.
