Before striking that match, be in the know about current forest fire conditions. For fire conditions and forest closures outside of the Parks system, log in to the Ministry of Forests site. And remember, "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires".
5   Link   BC Tidal Information
Accurately predict the tides and currents whenever and wherever you splash about the British Columbia coast with the freeware utility JTides. A must have for the serious coastal paddler.

Tide charts published by Fisheries and Oceans Canada in PDF format are available here. The data is as accurate as it gets but requires a bit of work to understand and visualize, especially for those urbanites not used to splashing about in coastal waters.
7   Link   Online Tide Predictions
An excellent source of tidal predictions online for a wide range of BC locales with forcasts displayed in a visual manner along with rise and set times for both moon and sun. Display is not as usable in the field as data churned out by tide prediction software [see Downloads] rendered in an Excel chart but remains adequate nonetheless.

Make it a habit: Check fire bans and park closures through BC Parks before heading out.
